"For it being my first time the staff were very nice and made it a comfortable experience."- K.S. / Google / Feb 29, 2020
"I have extreme anxiety and fear about the dentist. I had a lower molar that had been troubling me for years but no dentist could ever get it to numb enough to fix it due to my resistance to local anesthetics. Dr. Toms used sedation dentistry techniques to correct the issues with my tooth and I can honestly say it was the best experience I have ever had with a dentist. I highly recommend his practice especially if you deal with anxiety over dentistry work. He and his staff were extremely friendly and made me feel like I was there only concern. The procedure was painless (although I must admit I dont think I was even awake for most of it) and just a few hours later I can acually chew again with a tooth I haven't been able to use for years. Thank you Dr. Toms!"- J.G. / Google / Feb 12, 2020

He is not going to recommend any unnecessary services. He and his staff have a gentle touch and are always so friendly, welcoming and professional. I highly recommend Dr. Toms to anyone looking for excellent dental care!"- C.R. / Google / Oct 26, 2019
Best Candidates for Dental Implants
Dental implants can restore a missing tooth or teeth with an implant-support crown, bridge, or denture. You may want to consider a dental implant if you currently have a regular dental restoration, but are unhappy with the appearance, feel, or if there is a special cleaning needed. Implants can be cleaned like your natural teeth with daily flossing and brushing. During your consultation, Dr. Toms will evaluate the health of your jawbone and gums in order to determine if a dental implant is the right option. In some cases, a bone or gum graft surgery may be needed prior to implant surgery to ensure you have a strong enough foundation to support the post. You may not be a candidate for dental implants if you use tobacco products, are pregnant, or are currently being treated for an oral condition like gum disease.
What To Expect
To prepare for your dental implants, you may have teeth extracted, gum grafts, or bone grafts first. Once you are ready for the dental implant, the needed areas will be given local anesthesia to numb your mouth. Intravenous or oral-conscious sedation techniques may be added to help you feel more comfortable throughout the procedure. Dr. Toms will make an incision in your gum and put the titanium post in the jawbone. The incision in the gums will be closed with part of the post above the gumline. This will be repeated if several implants are required. While the dental implant integrates into the bone and gum over the next few months, a temporary cover will be used to protect the post. As soon as Dr. Toms decides your implant is strong enough, your restoration (crown, bridge, or denture) can be connected to your implant and adjusted for a good fit.
You may have some short-term inflammation in your mouth and lower face, plus discomfort, bruising, and minor bleeding after your implant procedure. Dr. Toms will let you know what is to be expected and what should be reported to our office. He may also prescribe pain relievers and antibiotics. Once your dental implants are integrated and your custom restoration is connected, you should follow a good oral care routine at home that includes brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. You should continue to schedule an annual exam and bi-annual professional cleanings at Patrick B. Toms, D.M.D. so Dr. Toms can assess your oral health. He will let you know if your restorations or implants should be adjusted or replaced.
Based on your dental insurance company and specific coverage, some of the expenses of your dental implant and custom restoration might be covered. We will talk to your insurance provider to understand your benefits and determine your costs. During your consultation with Dr. Toms, he can estimate your expenses. We do have low-interest financing through CareCredit®, and we do accept most major credit cards.
